Vincent Van Gogh Painting

 Description:

In this art project we talked about the methods and colors Vincent Van Gogh used in his paintings. We were to pick from a selection of his paintings to create our own (sunflowers, starry night, flowers in a vase). I chose his vase artwork as inspiration for my artwork. After we drew our outline of the artwork, we started painting. To help make the lines of movement as seen in Van Gogh's artwork, we used a fork to scratch the paint. These scratch marks helped make movement. We were to use red, yellow, black and blue paint to create our artwork. We could mix our colors to create new colors.

Extension:

An extension for this project would be to have students recreate the flower artworks of Vincent Van Gogh. Then once all the flowers are finished, create a garden bulletin board. Have students brainstorm other things we may find in a garden (insects, butterflies, shovels, seeds). Once students have a list, have students create these items and add them to the board. Students can do this by drawing their item on white paper or create with construction paper. The only criteria are their item must have color.
